Cory True, Executive Director

Cory first volunteered with Re-Member in 2008; worked on staff as a program supervisor in 2009, and as a construction supervisor in 2010; served on the board of directors from 2010 until 2018; and assumed the role of executive director in 2019.

Cory spent 12 years at Saint Anselm College. Four as a student (2005-2009) during which time he earned a degree in politics, and eight years (2010-2018) in the office of college communications and marketing, where he worked as a web producer and editor, and integrated communication manager.

During his final years at the college, Cory staffed the president of the college, assisting with communication and speechwriting projects.

At Re-Member, Cory’s myriad responsibilities are – first and foremost – serving as the “head volunteer.” His administrative tasks include fundraising, budgeting, planning, and overseeing a talented and dedicated staff. He learns something new every day from the Pine Ridge community, his colleagues, and from our volunteers.

Cory is privileged to count many members of the community as advisors and friends. He lives on site at Re-Member full-time, year-round, and has endured historic blizzards, floods, hail storms, and a pandemic – just to keep things interesting.

Originally from Maine, the high plains of South Dakota are a drastic departure from the lakes, mountains, and ocean geography that he grew up near. Although he enjoys life on the prairie, you can often find Cory in the Black Hills when he has the chance to enjoy some free time.

Cory has visited dozens of national park sites, and has been known to go out of his way to get a national park passport stamp from time to time. A (picky) foodie at heart, he is always in search of a great Eggs Benedict breakfast, and the perfect slice of apple pie.
