May Update

The weeks are flying by. It’s hard to believe we are already ten weeks into our volunteer season. We have been busy working on our standard construction projects and making meaningful progress at our Feather II gardens.

In the coming weeks we will begin planting in our four high-tunnel greenhouses, where we hope to grow several thousand pounds of produce this summer. With our newly acquired Veggie Wagon and increased growing capacity we will be able to share the bounty of our harvests with more folks across the reservation.

We have installed a beaver deceiver on our Feather II property. A fun little contraption that allows water to flow through a dam unbeknownst to our beaver friends. This handy device will allow us to continue to coexist with our furry neighbors – gaining the benefit of their industrious work, while also alleviating any potential water related issues.

Stay tuned for updates on beavers, garden activities, and more during our Growing Tuesday fundraiser on May 6!

Support local artists: Shop the Re-Member online store

We are consistently adding items to our inventory in the Re-Member online store. Peruse items from the incredibly talented artists and crafters from the Pine Ridge Reservation. Paintings, hide-work, quillwork, jewelry and more.

We look forward to another summer full of listening and learning, building and growing, and so much more. Thank you for your continued support as we continue to work alongside the Oglala Lakota people in the pursuit of a better today here on Pine Ridge.

Sincerely,

Will Paese
