Program Overview
Sunday: Arrive at Re-Member by 4 p.m. to get settled in. Following an orientation to our program, enjoy dinner, and attend a community cultural event, if available. End your night stargazing under the beautiful South Dakota sky.
Monday: Begin the day with breakfast and a history lesson. Then, visit with Dakota High Hawk before lunch. We’ll visit the Wounded Knee Massacre site and then head to Badlands National Park for an unforgettable walk – and time for silent reflection. Our next stop brings us to Sharps Corner where you can grab a snack or start a conversation with local residents. We end the day with a cultural presentation by Will Peters.
Tuesday: Work day number 1. After breakfast, you’ll split up into crews and then spend the day with our staff at worksites across the reservation. Lunch will be on-site, before the work day continues. Return to Re-Member for dinner, and your evening speaker, Larry Swalley.
Wednesday: Work day number 2. You’ll have a new assignment and spend the day in the field with our staff. Maybe it’s your turn to visit the Re-Member garden, helping to harvest fresh produce for distribution to the community. Our final dinner together is shared with the community, as we invite artisans to share a meal, and offer their beautiful works for sale.
Thursday: We come together for breakfast and reflect on the past four days together. It’s time to pack up, and head out by 10 a.m. Visit the Oglala Lakota College Historical Center, stop by the award-winning Red Cloud Indian Art Show, or explore Pine Ridge Village as you depart. Thank you for joining us!

You are welcome to come by yourself, or as part of a group. Volunteer groups are limited to no more than 14 individuals. The total number of volunteers at Re-Member is capped at 42 per week.
Volunteers must be age 12 or older. We require a ratio of one adult volunteer (18 or older) for every six youth volunteers (12 - 17). If a group includes both male and female youth volunteers, there must be at least one male and one female adult.
-
For 2025 mini weeks, the fee for adult volunteers is $383.88 plus 4.2% South Dakota sales tax for a total of $400.
Schools, colleges, and universities (except for-profit institutions) are exempt from the 4.2% tax. No other organizations, including churches, are exempt from this tax, regardless of tax status in their home states.
If you think your organization is exempt, simply check the appropriate box during booking, and we’ll remove the tax from your invoice. You may need to provide documentation of your exemption.
