August Update
It is hard to believe that August is upon us, and more than 20 weeks of our volunteer season have come and gone. We have accomplished much in the Feather II gardens and at dozens of worksites across the reservation this year with the support of hundreds of volunteers.
Early August is always a special time here on Pine Ridge, as the community gathers for the Oglala Nation Powwow, Rodeo and Fair. Later this week, our Healthcare Week volunteers will participate in the tribe’s Health Fair to help kick off the weekend’s festivities. On Saturday, August 5, we look forward to taking part in the parade through Pine Ridge. Tune in to our Facebook page around 10 o’clock Mountain time on Saturday morning for a virtual ride-along with some special musical guests as we parade through town!
End-of-Season Celebration: You’re Invited!
We are excited to return to an in-person gathering this fall. Come together with us in the Minneapolis, Minnesota suburbs on Saturday, October 7, for a celebration of 25 years of service to the Oglala Lakota Nation.
Join us for a meet and greet with Re-Member staff and volunteers, and browse Oglala Lakota arts and crafts for sale. Enjoy a delicious plated dinner. Then, learn more about Re-Member’s work in 2023. Hear words of encouragement from the Pine Ridge community, and enjoy a preview of our 2024 season under the leadership of our incoming Executive Director, William Paese.
