March Update

For the first time since 2019, we are preparing to host a full season of volunteers, with our first groups arriving in just a few days! We still have availability in many weeks for additional participants, and encourage you to visit our real-time trip calendar to begin the trip request process.

In addition to our regular weekly program for all volunteers, we have three special program weeks that are offered concurrently. We invite you to consider joining us for:

  • Kids’ Week (July 8-14)

For youth ages 8 – 11, this special week offers an authentic, accurate, and meaningful experience in Lakota history and culture. This exciting and engaging week includes field trips, guest speakers, Lakota crafting, and Lakota language study. The goal of the week is to create kids who are critical thinkers about the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, Lakota history, and Lakota culture in order to be young ambassadors and allies for the Oglala Lakota people across the country and around the world. Adults and older family members participate concurrently in the regular program.

  • Healthcare Week (July 29 – August 4)

During Healthcare week, you will still be able to offer your heart-felt, hands-on participation in a work project, hike to the Badlands, visit to Wounded Knee, and visit locally owned businesses with other volunteers. Additionally, healthcare providers will be able to use their professional talents and skills at Re-Member’s Health Fair, educating community members on health and wellness. Such crucial topics will focus on diabetes, new mothers, women’s health, and healthy eating. This service-learning trip will further your cultural immersion by providing you the opportunity to meet and learn from healthcare professionals who are employed on the reservation. We will also tour a local healthcare facility.

Consider this year’s volunteer trip to Re-Member as a healthcare professional to be a new layer of cultural immersion for you, but also add to a growing circle of advocates standing in solidarity with the people of Pine Ridge.

  • Senior Week (September 16-22)

Our Senior Week program offers the complete cultural immersion found in our regular program; however, the work projects we focus on are less physically demanding to accommodate those 55 and older.

Join us this year – our 25th – for a volunteer service experience that you won’t soon forget!

AmazonSmile & Wish List Update

On February 20, the Amazon Smile program was shut down. In the words of Amazon, this charitable effort, which provided more than 1 million eligible charities with support since 2013, "has not grown to create the impact that we had originally hoped."

We're grateful for everyone who selected Re-Member as your charity of choice with Amazon over the years. More than 1,400 of you did – and with your everyday purchases – supported Re-Member with more than $18,000 in charitable giving!

If you would like to help offset this loss, we welcome your one-time or recurring gifts, which can be set up by visiting our secure giving page on the Re-Member website.

Amazon Wish Lists were also removed. We will be building a new list this month, and look forward to sharing details about our new list soon!
